Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds and his wife Blake Livelyare facing backlash from fans after Reynolds’ comments about his and Lively’s upbringing in a recent interview. This has sparked curiosity amongst netizens and many are eager to know what exactly he said.

Ryan Reynolds and wife Blake Lively face backlash over their comment
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ryan Reynolds said he and his wife Blake Lively had a “working class” upbringing compared to their four children. “We both grew up very working class, and I remember when they were very young, I used to say or think, like, ‘Oh God, I would never have had a gift like this when I was a kid,’ or, ‘I never would've had this luxury of getting takeout,’ or whatever,” he said. “Then I realized that that’s not really their bag of rocks to carry.”
The Deadpool & Wolverine star’s comments that Lively had a “working class” upbringing angered some fans. Lively hails from a family of people who’ve had largely successful careers in the entertainment industry. Her late father Ernie was an actor who had roles in various shows and films like The Waltons, The X-Files, and Turner & Hooch. Meanwhile, her mother Elaine worked as a talent manager, while also having dabbled in acting, appearing in the 1993 video game Return to Zork.
Fans shared their frustration with Reynolds’ comments online. They commented under the social media post from The Cut that shared the exact quote. “Ryan and Blake are so out of touch and desperate to be seen as relatable it's pathetic,” wrote one fan. Another user remarked that Reynolds’ comments and the context behind it made many of them “working poor.”
Lively, however, once admitted her family’s influence on her career in a 2006 RadioFree interview, claiming she had “grown up on sets.”
