Some filmmakers, like Chris Nolan, concentrate on one film at a time. Others, like Guillermo del Toro and Ridley Scott, have multiple projects in development so they’re ready to go with the one that’s ready when they’re ready.

Scott, out promoting “Gladiator II” ahead of its release in a few weeks, indicates his company Scott Free has multiple scripts ready to be filmed by other filmmakers as well as some projects for Scott to personally direct. He tells THR:

“I know what I'm doing for the next three years. They're written and ready to go. So now we should be looking for big directors who can handle these kinds of budgets. You can have the best horse in the world, but if you ain't got a good jockey, the horse ain't going to win.”

Scott’s next directorial effort is Paramount’s Bee Gees biopic which aims to shoot early next year. A report at WoR indicates it is titled “You Should Be Dancing” and has both Harry Styles and Paul Mescal attached to star.

Scott revealed he’s developing a new “Alien” movie for 20th Century Studios but his involvement there is not clear – this very well could be the recently announced “Alien: Romulus 2” which he would produce, as opposed to an “Alien: Covenant” follow-up.

One newly revealed project in the article is a Battle of Britain film being penned by Joe Penhall and tackling the 1940 air campaign in the UK against the Nazis.

Scott reiterates his desire to do a western with his company pushing hard to help Scott fulfill his dream: “I’m a Western fanatic and I haven't done that yet.”

He also says at the top of his “dream list of collaborators” to work with at Scott Free is none other than “Michael Clayton” writer/director and “Andor” creator Tony Gilroy.

Finally the previously announced thriller “Bomb” from Kevin McMullin is also still very much on the table.
