Star hits back at 'muppets who say he's poo at darts' with brilliant response after shock PDC World Championship win

RICKY EVANS has hit back at his haters after reaching the World Championship second round.
The 34-year-old saw off Gordon Mathers in a nailbiter at Ally Pally on Wednesday night.

And Rapid – who is known for his lightning-fast release with the darts – lived up to the festive hype at the Oche.
He hit six maximums and averaged 86.23 on his way to a 3-2 underdog win over Aussie veteran Mathers.
Writing on X after the contest, Evans said: “So, so pleased to be through to round two!
“I was far from my best, and GG pushed me all the way, so I’m over the moon to still be in the tournament.
“Thank you so much for the support, hope you all enjoyed the walk on! See you Monday.”
Later in the day, he added another comment on social media – and hit back at online trolls who targeted him for his weight.

Evans wrote: “Big thanks to all the muppets saying I’m poo at darts and fat haha.
“I’m in the world champs…and you’re watching me on your TV haha.”
One fan laughed in response: “Name me a better sport than darts.”
Another said: “Love you Ricky.”
While a third added: “Looked difficult for you at times during the match but you've made it. So good Luck on Monday – play like you can, go smash it.”
Evans’ win sets up a second-round clash with World No. 6 Dave Chisnall.

The pair will do battle at the Ally Palace on Monday.
Evans has enjoyed a successful 2024, making the final four of a major tournament for the first time in February.
