The 36-year-old actor was spotted filming his upcoming thriller The Running Man in London on Tuesday, Nov. 12 — almost 37 years to the day since the original film, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, was released.
Powell appeared to be in full production mode in the photos captured, dressed in casual attire and sneakers as he runs in character as protagonist Ben Richards, potentially evading capture.
Like the original 1987 film starring Schwarzenegger, 77, The Running Man is based on Stephen King's 1982 book of the same name, set against the backdrop of a dystopian 2025 where "reality TV has progressed to the point where people are willing to wager their lives in exchange for a chance at enormous wealth," according to an official synopsis of the novel.

Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Baby Driver, Last Night in Soho) is directing and co-wrote The Running Man, which will also star Josh Brolin, Lee Pace, Katy O'Brian, William H. Macy, Emilia Jones and Michael Cera, per IMDb.
The original film was directed by Paul Michael Glaser and starred María Conchita Alonso, Yaphet Kotto, Jim Brown, Jesse Ventura and more alongside Schwarzenegger.

While speaking with IndieWire ahead of the release of his film Twisters in July, Powell broke down how he planned to finish his college degree at the University of Texas at Austin while filming.
"I'm not going to be sitting in a class with other students on the regular," the actor said. "I'm basically going to be coming back because I have to finish up, but I'm going to be shooting The Running Man in the fall. So I'm going to be in London, but I am going to be going back for proctored exams. So, they're letting me figure it out [with] distance learning."
He continued, "And I'm obviously going to be coming in, Zooming in for classes and whatnot, but I have to be back for the proctored exams. So, we're figuring that out for two or three times a semester, I'll come back for all my stuff."
Powell also highlighted how Wright, 50, "has been very nice about letting me finish my degree in the middle of his massive movie."
