Lourd still keeps her mother in mind when she chooses her movie roles; at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, she told PEOPLE she "was so excited to" act alongside Pamela Anderson in the new movie The Last Showgirl "because it reminded me so much of my mom and grandma."

"My grandma was a showgirl in her own right and my mom was a little bit of the character that I got to play," she said at the time of Fisher and her grandmother Debbie Reynolds, who died at 84 just one day after Fisher in 2016.
