The cost of The King's Coronation revealed

The cost of the Coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla has been revealed.
The figure is inside the annual review of the government department which took the lead role in supporting the celebrations.
The Department of Culture, Media and Sport worked with the Royal Household in organising the Coronation which saw events take place across three days to mark the crowning of King Charles and Queen Camilla.
In total, the DCMS review shows that £72 million of government money was spent on the Coronation. Of that figure, £21.7 million was spent on policing and the Home Office covered that cost. The other £50.3 million came from the DCMS.
Some further expenses were incurred by the Royal Household.
The review also highlighted the impact of the Coronation with the DCMS estimating that news about the event reached 2 billion people around the world. It generated more than 100,000 news stories.
The review also highlighted the cultural legacy of the Coronation which saw the government commission nine new artworks in response to the event that reflected on The King’s focus on youth work, community, diversity and sustainability.
King Charles and Queen Camilla were crowned at Westminster Abbey on May 6th 2023.
