The Dutch Royal Family attended one of the most important events of their year – Prinsjesdag, the official opening of parliament.

And while King Willem-Alexander gave the speech from the throne, Queen Maxima, Princess Amalia, and Princess Alexia stole the spotlight.

Queen Maxima chose a stunning cool grey floor-length gown from Claes Iversen, a Danish designer. The a-line gown featured an oversized bow on the shoulder and three-quarter length sleeves.

In addition to a matching pillbox hat, she wore several aquamarine pieces from Queen Juliana's parure, including the rectangular, Art Deco-style brooch that she pinned to her belt.

The Princess of Orange also made a statement in a full-length gown- she wore the Safiyaa Sarita Long Dress that has a strong silhouette with floor-length sleeves and a triangular cut-out at the neck.

Princess Catharina-Amalia accessorised with a Bijou Brigitte gold pearl-style headband and a gold Jacquemus clutch.

Princess Alexia did not leave the style statements to her mother and sister. She wore one of her mother's gowns, a red dress that Maxima first wore in 2002 and again in 2003 for a state dinner.

It has lace detailing on the bust and a full pleated skirt. She also made a statement with a joke bracelet with the words, "Ginger A**", reportedly a gift from a friend.
