It has been a difficult year for the Royal Family with serious health issues for King Charles and the Princess of Wales. That left room for other royals to step up and show their support as well as take on new roles and that is something we could continue to see in the new year.

The shape of the year to come

What does 2025 look like? Well, it’s hard to say as it will depend on The King and Princess’ health. Speaking of, it’s anticipated the Princess will step up her royal engagements as she has previously reported progress in her cancer recovery. Prince William has also hinted at undertaking overseas tours.

As for The King, we will likely see him undertake the same number of royal engagements as he has been unless we get a significant health update. There is already talk of overseas visits scheduled for the spring and autumn. Once again, it all depends on His Majesty’s health.

One of the potential trips we could see is to Auschwitz, Poland for the 80th-anniversary commemoration of the camp’s liberation. There is also talk of a meeting between King Charles and the incoming US President, Donald Trump.

In May, it is likely the Royal Family will join national celebrations for the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day (VE Day), and Victory over Japan (VJ Day) Day. With Donald Trump returning to office, 2025 could potentially include a meeting, quite possibly in the UK with chatter about a possible State Visit already ongoing.

A changing Royal Family

As for personal milestones, Princess Beatrice is set to welcome her second child with her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. The princess is already mum to 3-year-old Sienna and a stepmum to Edoardo’s son,  Christopher Woolf (“Wolfie.”)

It is also likely we will get a health update from Sarah, Duchess of York who has been treated for two forms of cancer.

The King and Queen will also celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary on 9 April.
