American rapper XXXTentacion continues to be remembered years after his tragic, untimely passing. Born Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, the singer-songwriter, was fatally shot on June 18, 2018, in Florida in an attempted robbery. XXXTentacion was 20 years old at the time of his passing. Soon after his death, the girlfriend of the late rapper, Jenesis Sanchez, welcomed their son.
Per BBC, XXXTentacion’s baby boy, Gekyume Onfroy, was born on January 26, 2019, seven months after the rapper’s death. XXXTentacion’s mother, Cleopatra Bernard, and Sanchez confirmed the news in a joint statement. The family also shared that XXXTentacion “specifically chose” the name for his first child. Gekyume “means ‘different state’ or ‘next’ universe of thought,” the statement said.
XXXTentacion has continued to release music posthumously following his passing. The album “SKINS” was released months after his death. The 2022 documentary Look at Me: XXXTentacion gave an inside look into the young rapper’s life with never-before-seen footage. Furthermore, his latest single, “EMOJI,” was released in 2023.
Where is XXXTentacion’s son now?
XXXTentacion’s son continues to live with Sanchez. Gekyume, nicknamed Gekko, turned five years old this year. Sanchez penned an emotional post for the little one’s birthday. She wrote, “[Light] of so many people's lives when it was dark. Especially mine.” Sanchez continued, “If it wasn't for you kiddo I would be lost. Truly my purpose. And really the coolest kid. Love you Gekko.”
Fans of the late rapper gushed about his son in the comments as they said Gekyume is his “mini twin.” They also noted that Gekko’s birthday is only three days after XXXTentacion’s.
Sanchez frequently posts about Gekyume on her Instagram (jenesisgiselle) and keeps fans updated with XXXTentacion’s son’s milestones. Little Gekko seems to be a Spiderman fan as he dressed up as the character, Miles, on last year’s Halloween. Sanchez is also showing Gekyume the world as the mother-son duo enjoys fun trips from time to time. As per Sanchez’s Instagram, their latest trip was in April this year when they visited China.
