Taylor Swift and Donald Trump have found unexpected common ground in their shared concern against ticket price gouging. Trump recently signed an executive order targeting inflated prices in the concert industry. This move aligns with Swift’s concerns about the practices of scalpers and resale platforms that drive up ticket costs for fans.

President Donald Trump has signed an executive order aimed at addressing price-gouging in the concert ticket industry. The White House pointed out that "unscrupulous middlemen" are exploiting the entertainment industry. They impose excessive fees, ultimately harming fans without benefiting the artists themselves.

Fans of major artists like Taylor Swift have often complained about the high cost of tickets on resale platforms. Earlier, under President Biden's administration, the Justice Department also filed a lawsuit against Ticketmaster and its parent company, Live Nation. Trump’s executive order tasks officials, including Attorney General Pam Bondi and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, with ensuring compliance from ticket sellers who charge inflated prices. Additionally, the order directs the Federal Trade Commission to improve transparency in the ticket-buying process and take action against unfair and deceptive practices in the resale market.

This move aligns Trump with pop icon Taylor Swift. She publicly criticized Ticketmaster in 2022 during the chaotic release of her Eras Tour tickets. A chaotic sale crashed the company's website. Meanwhile, tickets supposed to go to fans for face value quickly turned up on resale sites for vastly inflated prices.

In an Instagram post, Swift expressed her frustration with the situation. The pop star revealed that she had repeatedly asked if Ticketmaster could manage the high demand for her tickets. She also added, "It's really difficult for me to trust an outside entity with these relationships and loyalties, and excruciating for me to just watch mistakes happen with no recourse." (via BBC)

In response, Live Nation appreciated President Trump’s move. They stated, "Scalpers and bots prevent fans from getting tickets at the prices artists set, and we thank President Trump for taking them head-on."
