"Superman" Sees Lois Take On Digital News

“Superman” star Rachel Brosnahan has spoken some more about her work as Lois Lane in James Gunn’s upcoming film and how her version will differ from other ones.
One area the film will deal with is print vs. digital journalism, something few films have tackled as conventional news rooms started either disappearing or underwent conversions to more digital approaches in the 2000s and 2010s.
In the film, the Daily Planet reporter will be a print journalist in a digital world. She’s still going to be classic Lois – plucky, determined, fearless and ambitious – but Brosnahan says she can’t wait for people to see this new interpretation. She tells Comicbook.com:
“I've always loved this character and was so excited by the opportunity to bring all of those things that have been true of her in every iteration. One of the things I love about this character is that almost more than any other character in these comics, and in the movies, she evolves to fit what it would mean to be an intrepid journalist of each generation or each decade that she's presented in.
So, I think our challenge… Today we're living in a world where print journalism to some is perhaps an endangered art form and she's somebody who has dedicated her entire life to it. I think as far as what else is different, you'll have to check out the movie to see, but I love that she's somebody who doesn't understand what the word ‘no’ means and it's motivating for her. We definitely see that side of her in this film.”
Brosnahan’s co-stars in the film include David Corenswet as Clark Kent/The Man of Steel, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Isabel Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, and Milly Alcock as Supergirl.
“Superman” is set to open in cinemas July 11th 2025.
