After multiple delays, Marvel and Sony’s “Kraven the Hunter” will finally arrive on screens next month with Aaron Taylor-Johnson set to embody the big game hunter villain from “Spider-Man” lore.

It’s also the latest film in the SSU/SPUMC universe following the commercially successful “Venom” films and the flops “Morbius” and “Madame Web”.

“Morbius” opened to $39 million with its earnings falling off quickly after, while “Madame Web” landed with just $15.3 million and never recovered.

“Kraven” has now appeared on early box-office tracking over at Box-Office Pro who estimate that the film is headed for a domestic opening weekend of $20-25 million.

As it’s still early those estimates could be revised up or down to some extent, but either way the outlet suggests that: “there's a very real chance that Kraven's entire domestic run could fail to exceed even the opening weekend take of October’s ‘Venom: The Last Dance’.”

The third and seemingly final “Venom” opened to $51 million and hit $129 million after four weeks – the lowest-grossing of Sony's three Venom films.

Even with these low numbers, it’s expected the film will still beat its competition with the animated feature “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim” opening the same day and expected to debut at $8-15 million.

J.C. Chandor directs “Kraven the Hunter” which opens in cinemas on December 13th.
