Rapper Kanye West ignited fresh controversy after revealing a custom-designed black KKK-hood-inspired outfit during his DJ Akademiks interview. Ye admitted he wanted to wear the questionable ensemble in public but ultimately decided against it. He claimed that someone might put him in a “hospital” over the inflammatory fashion choice.

Kanye West faces backlash for his KKK-inspired outfit

Kanye West’s questionable KKK-inspired hood for his latest interview with DJ Akademiks has caused a social media outrage. Before changing into the KKK-inspired hood and loose blouse, Ye was sporting a t-shirt designed by Sean "Diddy" Combs and a necklace with a swastika pendant.

Both outfit choices of Kanye for the DJ Akademiks interview have drawn backlashes. While answering a question from DJ Akademiks, Ye called himself “evil” while still donning the questionable attire. A netizen wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Kanye West says, “I’m evil; I’m an evil person” while wearing a KKK outfit. The awkward silence after the first “I’m evil” has me dead; Akademiks was stun-locked.”

Another user raised a question regarding Ye’s well-being, sharing, “Kanye West appeared for an interview wearing a black KKK-inspired outfit, commenting he had a white version as well—and they were both custom-made. What's going on with Ye?”

A third user expressed their outrage, writing, “As if the swastika tee wasn’t toxic enough, now Kanye West is decked out in a black KKK robe and hood. Surely, he must be aware of how this attire was used against Blacks to instill fear and hate, yet he wears this costume with pride in his attempt to garner attention.”

Ye’s outfit choices were not the only point of controversy from the recent interview. His comment regarding Kim Kardashian also raised eyebrows. The 47-year-old “Praise God” singer alleged that he did not want to have children with Kim Kardashian.

DJ Akademiks pointed out that Ye chose the reality TV star as a partner out of his free will, to which he replied, “Absolutely, I did. That was my fault. No, that was my fault." The hip hop icon further added, "I didn't want to have children with this person after the first two months of being with them, but that wasn't God's plan."
