One-hit-wonder K-pop group FIFTY FIFTY will be rebranded with four new members and return to the music scene with Keena. While fans have mixed feelings let’s look at what happened to former members: Saena, Sio, and Aran.
Fifty Fifty started with four members—Keena, Saena, Sio, and Aran. The group, hailing from a small agency, delivered one of the most viral K-pop songs of 2023, “Cupid.” However, the K-pop act’s success did not last long. Initially, all the members filed a complaint to suspend their activities, alleging their agency, ATTRAKT, was not fulfilling contractual obligations.
The Seoul court, however, rejected the members’ plea. Later, Keena withdrew her appeal and returned to the agency. ATTRAKT canceled the other members’ contracts.
FIFTY FIFTY former members Saena, Sio & Aran: Where are they now?
The past year has been turbulent for former Fifty Fifty members. After pursuing their agency legally, Saena, Sio, and Aran addressed their fans in handwritten letters, apologizing for causing concerns.
Though the members could not win the case, their fans supported them through social media. Among the three rookies who left the group, Sio seemed to be the only active on Instagram. The 19-year-old K-pop star wished fans on Valentine’s Day from a scenic spot.
The other two members have kept their previous memories as a group of four on Instagram but have not uploaded anything new since the contract termination. Reports say the members are looking forward to starting their journey in K-pop by joining a new agency. However, there is no update about Saena, Sio, and Aran joining a new agency.
Meanwhile, Fifty Fifty will return as an (almost) new group in 2024 with Keena and four new members. ATTRAKT revealed the latest update in a statement sharing: “Last year, FIFTY FIFTY's "Cupid" achieved great results on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and the Official Singles Chart in the United Kingdom, where it ranked No. 17 and No. 8 respectively.
Additionally, it received a great deal of love from K-pop fans all over the world, winning awards and honors such as "Top 2023 TikTok Songs Globally" and "K-Pop Song of the Year" at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards.”
They added: “However, before [FIFTY FIFTY] could go on to achieve more things, there was a painful time when everything had to stop due to unfortunate news. To take a new leap, ATTRAKT has held private auditions to search for new members. As a result, this past April, we decided on four new members, and FIFTY FIFTY will be making a new start as a five-member group, including original member Keena.”
As the agency had previously revealed, the K-pop act will return to the music scene in September instead of June. K-pop fans must wait longer to discover the new members who will take Saena, Sio, and Aran’s spaces.
