"He just wants to be loved; she just wants to survive." Samara Weaving and Ray Nicholson team up in the newly released poster for Borderline, an upcoming "violently romantic comedy" thriller written and directed by Cocaine Bear writer Jimmy Warden.
Borderline hails from the creatives behind Cocaine Bear, Barbie, and Promising Young Woman. It also stars Eric Dane (Euphoria), Alba Baptista (Warrior Nun), and Jimmie Fails (The Last Black Man in San Francisco).
What is Borderline about?
Borderline, set in 1990s Los Angeles, will see Weaving play a pop star whose home is invaded by an obsessed fan (played by Nicholson) who just recently escaped a mental institution along with his fellow inmates. The sociopath believes his destiny is to be married to the superstar, while the latter will do anything in her power to survive. The upcoming film is described as a twisted tale.
"A bodyguard protects a pop superstar and her athlete boyfriend from a determined stalker in 1990s Los Angeles," the logline for Borderline reads (via BloodyDisgusting).

Weaving has made a name for herself in the horror genre, having starred in a number of features and television shows like Bad Girl, Ash vs Evil Dead, Mayhem, the two The Babysitter films, a brief appearance in Scream VI, and — most recently — the action horror Azrael. However, she is most notably known for her role in Radio Silence's horror comedy Ready or Not. It was reported last year that she will be returning for a second Ready or Not feature.
Her roles outside the horror realm include Monster Trucks, Guns Akimbo, Hollywood, Bill & Ted Face the Music, Snake Eyes, Babylon, and more.
Nicholson, meanwhile, is also no stranger to the genre. He recently starred as Paul Hudson in Smile 2, an acclaimed sequel of Parker Finn's 2022 supernatural horror. His other credits include Panic, Out of the Blue, Something from Tiffany’s, Gonzo Girl, and I Love You Forever.
No release date has been set yet for Borderline.
