A woman is considering "ruining" her ex's upcoming vacation after getting harassed by his new girlfriend.
The woman shared her story on Reddit's popular "Am I the A------?" forum on Jan. 8, explaining that she used to be in a "pretty serious relationship" with her good friend's brother.
She wrote that she and her ex broke up over four years ago, and noted that their split was "quite amicable on both sides."
"While I wouldn't call us friends," she added, "we still wish each other happy birthdays and happy holidays when they come around."
The woman also explained that her ex's sister recently reached out to ask if she could book a vacation property that the Reddit user's family owns for a family trip of her own.
"[The trip] included her, her husband, her parents, her brother [the Reddit user's ex] and his [girlfriend]," she wrote. "I said of course, and let them stay for free too, as I know their family really well."
However, the kind gesture seemingly did not go over well with her ex's current partner.
"Imagine my surprise when I checked my phone after getting off work and saw 15 messages from my ex. They turned out to be from his girlfriend who was I guess messaging me from his phone," the original poster [OP] recounted.

"She somehow got the idea that I was joining them on their family vacation and was extremely upset, cussing me out and telling me to stop trying to interfere in her relationship," she continued. "I was really taken aback as the only time I met her she seemed pretty nice, and like I mentioned earlier I barely talk to my ex."
The woman said she "simply replied that she had misunderstood [and] that I was not joining them on their vacation" while reiterating that her only connection to the trip is that her family owns the property where the group will be staying.
The OP said that she ultimately blocked her ex's number and was forced to block the girlfriend on multiple other social media platforms as she continued to be "rude and accusatory."
"This has been a very upsetting situation, and I now don't want her staying at my family's property," the Reddit user wrote. However, she also said she would "feel very bad messing up and potentially ruining their family vacation plans" as well as "punishing" everyone when "I really only have an issue with the girlfriend."

"I think you should go and speak to your friend and her parents. Show them all the messages and things she has been saying," one person wrote.
The same user suggested that the OP also text her friend something along the lines of: "As much as I wanted to let you guys stay at the house, if the GF comes, I won't be able to. If she acts this unhinged over a miscommunication, I worry what she will do to my family's house now that she knows [whose] home it is. I don't want my family to pay because of a problem I'm having with my [ex's] GF. I hope you all can understand."
Another person commented, "Don't cancel the reservation, but explain to your friend what's gone down, and let her know that her brother's girlfriend is absolutely not welcome in your family's rental property. If they want to cancel as a result, then accept it — but put the decision on them," added another.
