After her planned 2020 wedding was delayed four years due to the pandemic and her father King Constantine's death, the princess will finally marry on Sept. 28

After a four year delay, Princess Theodora of Greece is set to, at last, marry her fiance Matthew Kumar in a royal wedding that's just days away.

The couple got engaged in November 2018, and have pushed their planned 2020 wedding back twice — the first time for the COVID-19 pandemic, and the second time after the death of Theodora's father, King Constantine II, who died in January 2023 at age 82. Constantine, a first cousin of Britain's late Prince Philip and godfather to Prince William, was Greece's last king before its monarchy was abolished in 1973, though his descendants, including Theodora, 41, still represent the country as princes and princesses.

The two will marry at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Athens on Saturday, Sept. 28, and it's unknown which, if any, members of the British royal family will attend the latest European royal wedding. European royal families tend to be close (and, oftentimes, somehow related); when Constantine died, Princess Anne attended his funeral in Athens, and a thanksgiving service for him was held at St. George's Chapel in Windsor this past Feb, 27 with a strong contingent of British royals in attendance. Queen Camilla, Prince Andrew, Sarah Ferguson, Princess Beatrice, her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Princess Anne, Zara Tindall and Mike Tindall were all there, and Prince William was also expected to be in attendance and even give a reading at it, but pulled out of the service at the last minute — sparking a frenzy about wife Kate Middleton's health. (She announced less than one month later that she had been diagnosed with cancer.)

According to Hello!, King Charles and Queen Camilla are likely to miss Princess Theodora's wedding, as they'll be in Scotland visiting Parliament as it marks its 25th anniversary. It's also unlikely that the Prince and Princess of Wales will make the trip to Greece as Kate continues to keep a low public profile after announcing she had completed chemotherapy on Sept. 9. It's always possible that members of the more extended British royal family could attend, like Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie did for Theodora's brother Prince Philippos' 2021 wedding.

The Daily Mailpredicts that Princess Theodora will ask her oldest brother, Crown Prince Pavlos, to walk her down the aisle and perform the role of "giving away" his younger sister. (Theodora is the fourth of King Constantine and Queen Anne-Marie's five children.)

Theodora announced in 2020 that she had chosen Greek designer Celia Kritharioti to design her wedding dress, though it's unknown if the dress has been updated in the four years since it was originally planned to be worn. The designer's creations have been worn by celebrities like Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Gwyneth Paltrow and Taylor Swift, and she is the owner of Greece's oldest fashion house, established in Athens in 1906, according to the Daily Mail.

Theodora is an actress, appearing in projects such as the soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful under the name Theodora Greece. She and American attorney Kumar, 34, began dating in 2016, and announced their engagement two years later. At the time, Theodora posted on Instagram, writing, "Words can't express our happiness and excitement. I can't wait to marry this wonderful man. I love you, Matt."

Though it's unknown which, if any, members of the British royal family will make the trip to Greece for the wedding, there will be royalty present. Queen Sofia of Spain, Theodora's paternal aunt, is expected to be in attendance, according to Hello!. The bride's mother, Queen Anne-Marie, is the younger sister of Denmark's Queen Margrethe, so members of the Danish royal family could be in attendance, as well. Beyond royalty, the couple's guest list "is tipped to be very-star studded" thanks in part to Theodora's Hollywood connections, according to the Daily Mail.
