SIAN WELBY delivered her first child via emergency caesarean with fiance Jake Beckett by her side.

Despite the couples hopes for a waterbirth not going to plan, the This morning host gave birth to a baby girl on Saturday 29 2024.

Sian and her fiance Jake Beckett wasted no time in showing off their first child to the world as they were spotted out on a stroll.

The star later shared their happy news on Instagram with photos of her daughter who wore a beige baby cardigan embroidered with her name.

In her caption, Sian confirmed her name, writing: “Our little Ruby.”

Describing her birth, the new mum told ITV's This Morning: "I originally was planning to have a water birth, because obviously you can try and plan what you're going to have.

"But then it boils down to what's the safest way and in the end, I did actually have an emergency C-section, but I felt so safe. I was in amazing hands and the midwives are just incredible.

"If any midwives are watching now, you are a different breed of human.

"I just want to thank you, because the work they do and the way they treat you like you're their only patient, and yet they've probably dealt with 30 other people already and they're exhausted but they're always smiling at you and they make you feel so at ease. I can't thank them enough."

Who is Sian Welby?

Sian Welby is a television host who began presenting at 19.

She was born in Nottingham, England on September 3, 1986.

Welby starred in an advert for New! magazine and was quickly spotted by Channel 5 boss Richard Desmond.

She then became the face of Channel 5 News while she worked part-time as a shop assistant at New Look.

The star went on to become the lead weather presenter before turning her hand to radio.

She replaced former Strictly Come Dancing star Vick Hope on Capital to host alongside Roman Kemp and Sonny Jay in 2020.

Sonny then left in 2022 to launch his own solo evening show and was replaced by Radio One’s Chris Stark.

Throughout 2023 Welby regularly appeared on This Morning as a competition presenter.

On January 22, 2024, she made her debut as a host on the ITV show and was dubbed a “rising star” by sources close to the popular programme.

A source told MailOnline: “Sian has many years of presenting experience under her belt, she is very much ear marked as being a star of the future.

“She has done really well already on This Morning so the bosses thought it was time to give her the reins to the whole show rather than just segments.” 

Who is Sian Welby’s fiancé Jake Beckett?

Welby is engaged to her radio producer fiancé Jake Beckett.

It is thought that the pair met at work as Beckett is a creative producer for Heart Breakfast, which is under the same media company as Capital.

As part of his job Beckett has worked alongside hosts including Kelly Brook, Rochelle Humes, Vogue Williams and Emma Bunton.

When did Sian Welby and Jake Beckett get engaged?

Welby and Beckett got engaged in the summer of 2023.

The star revealed the big news on social media, sharing a sweet message with her Instagram followers.

Alongside a happy snap of the two that featured Welby showing off her diamond ring she wrote: “I thought we were just going on a boat trip!!

“Genuinely didn’t see this coming.

“For once I am totally speechless.

“I didn’t think it mattered until he asked me, and then suddenly it meant everything. Love you Jakey x 15.8.23.”

In February 2024 Welby revealed on the Capital Breakfast show that she and Beckett are expecting their first child.

She told listeners: “I’ve got a bit of an announcement for you!

“I’m pregnant! I don’t know how I’ve managed to keep it from you for so long.

“The lies, the deceit, the mocktails! I couldn’t wait to tell you. This is a whole new journey for me and I want to take you all on it with me, and don’t worry I’m not going anywhere!”

She added: “This is going to be a lot of fun and I can’t wait to share it with you all.”

Shortly after the on-air reveal Welby shared a series of adorable polaroid pictures with her Instagram followers.

In the snaps Beckett can be seen kissing Welby’s bump and posing with the pair’s positive pregnancy test.

Welby is expected to take a break from radio over the summer but will return to Capital Breakfast with new host Jordan North later in 2024.
