Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz and Maria Yeribel were first romantically linked in 2019

David Ortiz is well aware that he hit a home run with his fiancée Maria Yeribel.

"What I start I finish and more with a human being as good and noble as your @yeribel17," the legendary Boston Red Sox player captioned a March 2025 Instagram post in Spanish announcing their engagement. "Love u baby happy birthday ❤️❤️❤️."

According to 7News Boston, the couple started dating in 2019 and welcomed their first child together, Diego Ortiz, in 2024. In an Instagram post announcing his birth, "Big Papi" promised his son "to be the best father that exists on this earth."

Yeribel, an influencer and model, has also been vocal about her dedication to their son — and her love for his father. In February 2025, she shared a family mirror selfie and wrote that when she was struggling postpartum, Ortiz was there to remind her that she wasn't alone.

They're both Dominican 

Ortiz and Yeribel are both Dominican. The influencer's Instagram bio features the Dominican flag emoji next to the word "Mocana," an homage to her native city of Moca, Dominican Republic.

Though she often shares photos on Instagram of her exploring places like Greece and London, Yeribel gives plenty of love to her roots. In 2023, she posted images of her overlooking the Dominican coastline, and she captioned another 2023 picture of herself shopping at a local mall, "Dominicana soy 🇩🇴" which translates to "I am Dominican."

She's a model and influencer

Yeribel is a model and influencer. As of March 2025, she's amassed over 350,000 followers on Instagram, where she shares photos of her outfits, travels and family time with her fiancé and son. 

In 2022, she planned a galaxy-themed birthday party for Ortiz and shared on Instagram that picking the concept was easy.

"You are the moon, you are the sun and the star that illuminates my heart," Yeribel captioned the post in Spanish. "You know that you are a star that shines very brightly thanks to your great effort and everything you have achieved on your life path, you deserve to be happy, you deserve the best in the universe."

Yeribel and Ortiz started dating in 2019  

Ortiz and Yeribel became an item in 2019, according to 7News Boston. However, the model didn't go public with their relationship until 2022, sharing photos of her and Ortiz courtside at a Boston Celtics game.

They share a child 

The couple welcomed their first child, Diego Ortiz, in 2024. Yeribel has shared some snippets on Instagram of their son, including a sweet video of them dancing and their first Christmas as a family of three.

Ortiz also shares two kids, D'Angelo and Alexandra, with his ex-wife Tiffany Ortiz and a daughter, Jessica, from a previous relationship.

Ortiz proposed on her birthday 

On March 17, 2025, Ortiz and Yeribel shared a joint Instagram post announcing their engagement and revealing that the former Red Sox player had proposed during her 34th birthday celebration.
