The Harry Potter films — based on the bestselling book series of the same name — has become one the most beloved movie franchises since the first film was released in 2001. From dueling wizards to mystical potions and spells, the series offers magic for all ages.

While the Sorting Hat may be able to tell you which house you'd be sorted into at the magical school, only astrology can give you a real idea of which iconic Harry Potter character you're most like.

While Fire signs might relate most to the hero Harry Potter — The Boy Who Lived – Water signs may closely align with the complex Severus Snape.

Read ahead to learn which Harry Potter character you are based on your zodiac sign, according to astrologer Valerie Mesa's readings.

Aries: Ginny Weasley

Ginny Weasley's fiery nature and independent spirit closely align with Aries. According to Mesa, "Ginny embodies the brave and daring persona of Mars-ruled Aries and is unafraid to stand up for herself and her friends." She adds that her "courage and determination" including how she willingly put herself in danger to fight during the Battle of Hogwarts "reflects this Fire sign's initiative and fiery nature."

Taurus: Draco Malfoy

Draco Malfoy leans into his "privileged sense of security, status and stubborn determination" since Taurus placements are "governed by the planet of beauty, luxury, and materialism," Mesa explains. She adds that Draco "embodies Taurus's shadow side with his deep sense of entitlement, which eventually turns into insecurity. His fixation on creating conflict with Harry is also similar to this Earth sign's perpetual consistency."

Gemini: Neville Longbottom

Neville Longbottom is truly "Mercurial and Gemini at heart," Mesa says. She explains that "Neville began his journey at Hogwarts with relentless curiosity and shameless inquisitiveness, and his mischief often got him into trouble." However, when he finally joins Dumbledore's Army in the Order of the Phoenix, "he undergoes a significant transition and eventually becomes the leader of the Army. His adaptability and intelligence (considering his role in Voldemort's downfall was instrumental) resemble this Air sign's brilliant problem-solving skills."

Cancer: Ron Weasley

As one of the three members of the Golden Trio, Ron Weasley's "deep sense of empathy, protectiveness and strong connection to his family" closely aligns with Cancer's energy, Mesa says. She adds that throughout the series, "he prioritizes his family and friendships above all else, and his sensitive side contributes to a wide range of emotions."

Leo: Harry Potter

Harry Potter exudes main character energy just like most Leo placements. Mesa says that he "is known for his courage, confidence and leadership, which also resembles his Hogwarts house Gryffindor (represented by a Lion)." She adds that "his loyalty and protective nature towards his loved ones are also central to his character, reflecting this Fire sign's fierce loyalty."

Interestingly enough, Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe, who played the titular role, is also a Leo and has a Leo stellium in his birth chart.

Virgo: Hermione Granger

Hermione Granger is considered the epitome of a Virgo. Mesa says that Hermione "embodies the analytical, pragmatic and innately nervous nature of this Earth sign." Not only is she "highly intelligent and solution-oriented, often applying her wisdom to solve ongoing problems at Hogwarts," Mesa adds that she "has a strong sense of duty to the point of anxiety, which is common for Virgo placements."

Libra: Professor McGonagall 

Professor McGonagall is the just and fair professor at Hogwarts — the essence of a Libra placement. Mesa says that McGonagall "exemplifies the fairness, balance, and strong sense of justice that is associated with Venus-ruled Libra. She also plays the role of the mediator among her faculty and students, reflecting this Air sign's zodiac archetype, the scales." As head of the Gryffindor house, Professor McGonagall is "dedicated to upholding the values of justice resembles Libra's pursuit of creating a harmonious environment."

Scorpio: Severus Snape

Severus Snape is a complicated person with a polarizing personality that best matches with Scorpio placements. Mesa says that Snape "is deeply complex, epitomizing themes of death, intensity, secrecy and, of course, the dark arts. His passion and loyalty to Lily Potter is also very Plutonian/eighth house, showcasing his intense capacity for love and sacrifice, proving that not all is as it seems."

Sagittarius: Hagrid

The lovable half-giant groundkeeper at Hogwarts is adventurous, outspoken and generous to all students, like a Sagittarius. Mesa explains that Hagrid "embraces life with open arms but also showcases a deep appreciation for all creatures. Hagrid is also a wise guide and protector for Harry, Ron and Hermione, similar to this Jupiter-ruled sign's wisdom and truth-seeking nature."

Capricorn: Tom Riddle/Voldemort

Voldemort — aka He Who Must Not Be Named — is characterized by themes of control, ambition and a ruthless pursuit of power, which can be very Saturnian and deeply rooted in Capricorn energy. Mesa says "Capricorns can also symbolize structure and hierarchy, which is something Voldemort masters when turning to evil and becoming a Dark Lord." 

Aquarius: Albus Dumbledore

The formation of the secret organization "Dumbledore's Army" to teach students how to defend themselves against Voldemort's dark forces is also very "high-key Aquarius."

Pisces: Luna Lovegood

Luna's whimsical persona and intuitive nature most resemble enchanting Pisces placements. Mesa explains that Luna is "incredibly unique, insightful and nonjudgemental of others, which is quite similar to this elusive Water sign.
