Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and many of the other former child stars now have little ones of their own
It has been nearly 23 years since Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and more former child stars transported viewers to the magical world of Hogwarts on the big screen for the first time in 2001.
The Harry Potterfranchise has remained a lasting cultural phenomenon, even as the stars have grown up and pursued other passions since the series wrapped in 2011.
Since then, many of the former child stars have also become parents, too! Here, learn more about the growing families of the Harry Potter cast.
Daniel Radcliffe
Daniel Radcliffe, who played the titular Harry Potter character, has a toddler he shares with his girlfriend Erin Darke. They had their son, whose name they have not shared publicly, in April 2023.
The Tony winner, 35, spoke of his love for fatherhood with Extra in 2023. He said his then-3-month-old son was "very cute."
"It's been a crazy few months, as anyone who's been through parenthood would attest," Radcliffe said. "But it's also the literal best thing that's ever happened, so it's great."
He updated PEOPLE in June 2024 at the Tony Awards that his son was learning to speak.
"He's great," Radcliffe said on the carpet. "He's talking and saying, you know, nonsense, but very, very charming nonsense."
Rupert Grint
Rupert Grint, who portrayed Harry Potter's best friend Ronald Weasley in the series, shares his daughter Wednesday G. Grint, born in April 2020, with actress Georgia Groome. Grint revealed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that Wednesday was named after the character Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family.
Grint, 36, shares Radcliffe's love for parenting.
"I'm absolutely loving being a dad. It's just the best thing," the actor told Entertainment Tonight in 2021.
His daughter brought Grint to Instagram. His debut post was a sweet selfie with his little girl that now has more than 4 million likes.
"Hey Instagram….only 10 years late, but here I am. Grint on the Gram! Here to introduce you all to Wednesday G. Grint," the Harry Potter alumnus captioned the post.
Grint told Fallon that his daughter learned one of her first words on set with him.
"She spends a lot of time in my dressing room when I'm doing my lines for [Servant] and my character says the F-word a lot and now she just says it whenever she's excited," he said in the interview. "We were at the toy store today, and she was just walking around dropping it."
Robert Pattinson
Robert Pattinson, who played Cedric Diggory in the film franchise, shares a baby girl with his fiancé Suki Waterhouse. The pair welcomed their child in March 2024.
Waterhouse announced the birth of their baby in April 2024 via Instagram. She later posed on the cover of British Voguewith her daughter in July.
The "Moves" singer, 32, has complimented Pattinson as a father. She said on the Today show in September that she changes most of the diapers, but the Twilight actor is great at it, too.
"Diaper changing ... he really excels at that and enjoys it. He thinks it's fun. The surprise, and everything," she said.
A source told PEOPLE that Pattinson, 38, and Waterhouse are committed parents.
"Rob's an amazing dad," the source said. "They are both great parents and truly enjoy it. They travel together as a family and love to bring their daughter along."
Bonnie Wright
Bonnie Wright, perhaps better known as Ginny Weasley among Harry Potter fans, has a son with Andrew Lococo.
Elio Ocean Wright Lococo, 15 months, was born on Sept. 19, 2023. Wright, 33, shared the news on Instagram, showing their son in a striped hat and onesie, cuddled in a blanket.
"Say hello to Elio Ocean Wright Lococo 🩵 born at home on Tuesday 19th September. We're all healthy and happy. Andrew and I are so in love with our sun 🌞! So grateful for our birth team that have held our hands throughout and made the journey so joyous and expanding. Birth is the wildest experience!," the actress captioned the post.
Afshan Azad-Kazi
Afshan Azad-Kazi, who played Padma Patil in the Harry Potter films, has two daughters — and she is a self-pronounced "girl mom forever."
Azad-Kazi, 36, shares her daughters Kyra, 3, and Raya, 3 months, with her husband Nabil Kazi.
The actress shared the news of Raya's birth on Instagram with a sweet photo of her daughter in a lemon-print onesie and hat.
"By the Grace of God, on the 08.08, our perfect baby girl came into this world and completed our little family. 💗 Sub'han'Allah 🤲🏾🥰," Azad-Kazi captioned the post. "I feel beyond blessed to give my Kyra a little sister and a best friend for life - something I could've only dreamt of. 🥹 (Kyra looks like such a big girl now 😭)."
"I'll be taking some well needed time off to rest and recover and soak up every single newborn baby deliciousness with my family as a MOM OF TWO 🥹😭😩😮💨," she wrote.
Jessie Cave
Jessie Cave, who portrayed Lavender Brown, has four kids with comedian Alfie Brown. Together, they share Donnie, 10, Margot, 8, Abraham, 4 and Becker, 2.
Cave, 37, welcomed her latest addition in March 2022 — she announced Becker Brown's birth in a joint Instagram post with her husband.
"Welcome Becker Brown. Thank you to UCLH. Thank you to the midwives Amy and Emi-Lou. Thank you to Alisson Becker," Cave captioned the post, which included an image of soccer player Alisson Becker, whom Cave said she loves in the comments section.
Cave often shares sweet snaps of her children on her Instagram. On Oct. 3, she shared throwback images of her 10-year-old, Donnie.
"10 years of being mother to such a kind and funny boy who has made me so happy…. so here are 10 photos from early motherhood that I wanted to share. It did get easier, it did get better….and now I look back on that first bit and I can't believe how far we've come," the actress captioned the birthday post.
Devon Murray
Devon Murray shares a son with Shannon McCaffrey. The actor, 36, who played Seamus Finnigan in the series, shared the happy news on Instagram in 2021. His son, Cooper Michael, was born that Jan. 2.
Murray shared in his caption that both McCaffrey and Cooper were "doing amazing" after a "very long labour and a scary few minutes at the end." He expressed his excitement at becoming a father.
"It still hasn't sunk in just yet that we have our very own little boy. I can't wait to make the most amazing memories with Shannon and Cooper as we begin our little family," the actor wrote.
Much of the actor's Instagram is now devoted to Cooper. Murray posted a tractor costume he made for his son for Halloween 2024 on Oct. 31.
"When Cooper says he wants to be a tractor… Daddy makes him a tractor costume 🚜👻🎃," the actor said.
Scarlett Hefner
Scarlett Hefner (née Byrne), who played Pansy Parkinson in the Harry Potter franchise, shares three daughters with her husband Cooper Hefner.
The couple welcomed twin daughters Marigold Adele and Blossom Pearl, both now 2, in March 2022, and their first daughter Betsy Rose, 4, in August 2020.
"Scarlett and I are over the moon that our two daughters have joined us in the world," Cooper told PEOPLE when his twin daughters were born. "Our hearts are fuller than ever before. Scarlett and the girls are healthy and resting. We are counting our blessings as a family as we sit in the extended love we have been gifted with."
Cooper echoed similar sentiments when his first daughter was born, telling PEOPLE that he and Scarlett were "filled with such joy — we couldn't be happier."
The family of five went as The Powerpuff Girls for Halloween 2024. Scarlett, 34, shared an Instagram post with their three daughters dressed as Buttercup, Bubbles and Blossom, with Cooper, 33, as Professor Utonium and Scarlett as Miss Sara Bellum.
"There's more chemistry in the lab than just sugar, spice, and everything nice with Miss Bellum and the Professor… Happy Halloween from our family to yours!🎃🧡," Scarlett captioned her post.
Josh Herdman
Josh Herdman, who played Gregory Goyle in the film franchise, has two sons.
Herdman, 37, has posted his sons several times on his Instagram. He even shared a sweet matching picture four years apart posing in gyms with each of his sons.
"Two different states, two different hotel gyms, two different sons, 4 years apart 💪🏼🏋🏻♂️🇺🇸," he captioned the post.
Katie Leung
Katie Leung played Cho Chang in Harry Potter, and now has a son named Wolf, according to Hello!Magazine. Wolf, 2, was born in October 2022, per the publication.
Leung, 37, shared a sweet photo on Instagram with her toddler son in June. She smiled at him as the two sat in a grassy area. She summarized the importance of her little one in a two-word caption: "My world."
Oliver Phelps
Oliver Phelps, 38, who portrayed George Weasley in the films, has two daughters with his wife Katy Humpage, though keeps their faces concealed on social media. His twin brother, James, played Fred Weasley.
Clémence Poésy
Clémence Poésy — who played Fleur Delacour in 2005's Goblet of Fire — displayed her baby bump at a premiere for costar Daniel Radcliffe's film Imperium in 2016. On Instagram in 2019, she alluded to a second pregnancy, though the 42-year-old has not shared information about her private life on the platform.
