DIY fan Rachel Lewis, who is from the UK, explained that she and her husband thought outside of the box when it came to their home overhaul.

Instead of buying a stair runner, for a fraction of the price, the bargain hunters bought a hallway set from Asda and created their own.

Thanks to the Relay Recycled Geometric Runner and Mat Pack, which you can buy online, Rachel adding style to her home, without too much faff or expense.

Thrilled with her hallway transformation, Rachel took to social media to share it with others, leaving many open-mouthed.

Posting on DIY On A Budget, a private Facebook group with 2.2 million members, Rachel shared before and after snaps of her home – which she turned from drab to fab in no time at all.

Not only did she save hundreds of pounds thanks to her savvy idea, but she now has a staircase that is sure to leave many stunned.

Alongside her post, Rachel wrote: "After looking for nearly a year for a stair runner, we finally did it!

"We bought a hallway runner set last year from Asda and really liked the design, so we bought three more and turned them into stair runners!"

Clearly very pleased, she added: "Absolutely chuffed at how it’s come out!

"And done for half the price too!

"Only took my husband a day to do."

Rachel then told Fabulous: "We bought the runners from George Asda for £19 each.

"We bought three sets, also purchased underlay, carpet grippers and a staple gun.

“So altogether [it was] approximately £150."
