Gout said he'll be training with Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles beginning in January
Meet Gout Gout, the 16-year-old Australian sprinter who recorded the fourth-fastest time by an Australian in the 100-meter race on Friday, Dec. 6.
Gout, largely touted as the next Usain Bolt, clocked in at 10.04 seconds during the heats at the All-Schools Athletics Championships in Queensland.
The sprint was the fourth-fastest time of a sprinter of any age, according to CNN.
Unfortunately, Gout's sprint won't count in official records due to being wind-assisted (which happens when a tailwind exceeds a velocity of 2.0 meters per second, per NCAA.com), CNN reported.
After coming in with the fourth-fastest time in the heats, Gout raced again on Friday, running the final in 10.17 — the sixth-fastest time for a sprinter under 18 years old — beating his previous personal record of 10.29 seconds.

Gout told Athletics Australia after the race that he's been "chasing this national record for a while now."
"In the heat, I thought I got it, but it was a crazy tailwind, so I just did the same thing and got the job done."
The previous Australian under 18 years old to hold the record was Sebastian Sultana with 10.27.

In January, Gout will train with Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles — who won gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the 100-meter back in August — and Lyles' coach Lance Brauman, he told Athletics Australia.
"Hopefully, we can qualify for the Tokyo World Championships...If not, I'll just finish my school in Year 12," he told the Australian outlet.

After the video of Gout's race was shared online, users on X (formerly known as Twitter) reacted strongly to the young sprinter's skills.
"So fast they had to name him twice," one user wrote, while another said, "Future Olympic gold medalist."
Another user predicted that Bolt's former record "might be destroyed before this kid clocks 20," after seeing the impressive sprint.
On Saturday, Gout will run in the 200-meter event in Queensland.
