The five secret messages Meghan Markle is sending with her all-white revamped look – and it's 'all about her'

IT may have been a grey and overcast day when Meghan Markle decided to wear a relaxed all-white ensemble to the beach to write “2025” in the sand – but there's a reason she did so.
The Duchess of Sussex was using her fashion to send subliminal messages about her plans for the coming year as she ran along an empty beach barefoot in cropped white jeans and a floaty ivory shirt.

In her first personal social media post for several years yesterday (New Year’s Day), 43-year-old Meghan ran towards the sea on a large beach before slowing down to a walk to write “2025” in the sand with her finger.
Royal expert Ingrid Seward told The Sun that the Duchess wants to start the new year off on a “strong note” – separately from Prince Harry and their children Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three.
“It’s nothing to do with her and the children or her and Harry – it’s just her," she said. "I think it’s all about Meghan."
The video was posted to her new personal Instagram page yesterday, which has the username @meghan and 787,000 followers at the time of writing.
Meghan's choice of an all-white outfit in the video cements the notion that 2025 is a new beginning for her, according to fashion expert Amber Graafland.
And it’s no coincidence that she’s wearing a white dress in her new Instagram profile picture to further hammer this message home.
"When it comes to orchestrating her image, Meghan is the master," Amber tells.
"Running barefoot and make-up free down a beach towards the sea, her outfit was carefully selected to communicate a clear and important message.
"By opting to wear head-to-toe white, she was conveying that she wants to leave the past firmly behind her and start again.
"White not only represents new beginnings – it symbolises purity, innocence and neutrality."
DRESSING DOWN
Meghan often wears white to signal new beginnings. However, she typically does so in the form of posh dresses and designer coats.
She wore a wide-collared trench in a pale hue for an official photocall to announce her engagement to Prince Harry, 40, in November 2017.
Posing at The Sunken Gardens in Kensington Palace, the striking white signalled the beginning of her new life as a Duchess.
Meghan later wore white to the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey in March 2018, which was her first official royal engagement with Queen Elizabeth II.

However, this soon changed when she and Harry stepped back from the monarchy in January 2020.
But after taking some time away from the spotlight, Meghan was pictured wearing a white off-the-shoulder dress with a subtle center leg slit to attend the Ripple of Hope Award Gala on December 6, 2022.

She attended with Harry, and the couple were honoured with the 2022 Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Ripple of Hope Award.
The all-white ensemble turned heads just two days before the first part of their Netflix documentary series, Harry & Meghan, was released.
The show was a hard launch of their new life and careers, which they wanted to be independent of the British monarchy.
NEWFOUND PEACE
Now, in the first post to her new Instagram profile, she wore simple white clothes (rather than pricey designer dresses) to signal another new chapter in her life.
This fresh start is likely to be more laid back than the ones she embarked on as a member of the royal family, hence the relaxed choice of outfit.
It comes amid rumours Meghan will front her very own show celebrating “the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship” this year.
The series is reportedly being made to complement her lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard.
However, there has been little update on it, nor is there a release date in sight.
What has Meghan Markle teased from American Riviera Orchard so far?
MEGHAN Markle launched her brand's new Instagram page in March 2024, but no products are available to buy as of yet.
Industry insiders said the site will focus on home, food, garden and lifestyle goods.
Meghan kicked off promoting American Riviera Orchard by sending 50 branded jams to friends and influencers.
Those who received a package included Chrissy Teigen, Heather Dorak, Tracy Robbins and Kris Jenner.
She later unveiled two new products from her American Riviera Orchard brand just hours before Trooping the Colour.
Polo player and close friend of Prince Harry, Nacho Figueras was treated to a jar of raspberry jam from the collection as well as a jar of luxury dog biscuits for his pooch.
SURRENDERING TO THE PAST
Amber also predicts that Meghan wants the public to know she is “surrendering to the past” to aid her new beginning.
"For many, white also represents wisdom,” the fashion expert explains. "Having learnt a lot of life lessons, Meghan might be telling us that she has learned from her past and by letting go, she is now finally fully able to move on.
"Poignantly, the message seems to be that she is surrendering to the past, letting go and paving a new future.
"Countless column inches have been written about Meghan since the news broke, she was dating Harry back in 2016.
"One of the most talked about, often vilified and, in her eyes, misunderstood women in the world, perhaps 2025 is about setting the record straight and showing us who she really is away from the headlines."
INNOCENCE
Meghan is often seen wearing dark clothes, but this is something she is ditching to appear more innocent in her 2025 rebrand, says Fabulous’ in-house fashion expert Abby McHale.
She wore a black bodysuit with a taffeta Carolina Herrera maxi skirt on a red carpet in January 2024 to set the tone of the year.
The dark colour was her go-to for numerous public appearances and red carpet walks.
Meghan wore all-white to distance herself from the “fiery” association to the colour red[/caption]Later in the year, Meghan even ventured into wearing dark red with a Caroline Herrera gown at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Gala 2024 in October last year.
But as she starts a new chapter focused solely on herself in 2025, the Duchess wore all white in her return to Instagram to distance herself from public perception of her as “bold and fiery”.
“Meghan wants to come across as pure and innocent rather than bold and fiery, which is often associated when wearing the likes of black or red,” says Abby.
FUSS FREE
The expert continued that Meghan wearing exclusively white in the video was a way for her to signify her new chapter of independence will be “fuss free”.
“By wearing all one colour, keeping the fabric light and looking plain, Meghan’s wanting to show that she’s not making a fuss with her look,” Abby says.
“It’s stripped back, a clean slate and the start of a new chapter.”
She added that wearing “all white can also be associated with female solidarity” as it was the colour used in the suffragette movement.
“All throughout history there are references to powerful women making a statement in all white, something Meghan may be conveying here,” Abby adds.
