Strictly fans convinced they've worked out why Wynne and Katya haven't revealed 'inside joke' that sparked scandal

WYNNE Evans recently came under fire for putting his arm around his dance partner’s waist in a move that was deemed ‘gropey’.

The opera singer later made a statement saying he is “heartbroken” that the moment was misinterpreted, claiming it was part of an “inside joke” between him and Katya.

Pro dancer Katya backed him up with a video she released on Instagram, where she said: “Happy Sunday everyone. Now, I need to make something crystal clear.

“The hand incident that happened on Sunday night was indeed a very silly inside joke.

“So even the idea that he made me feel uncomfortable or offended me in anyway is complete nonsense. It’s quite absurd actually.

“Now can we just focus on how brilliant he is doing and what an amazing dancer that he’s becoming.”

However, Strictly fans have been left questioning why Wynne and Katya haven’t let viewers in on the joke if it was not an incident of misconduct.

Now some sleuths think they’ve figured out the reason why the pair are reluctant to share what exactly the inside joke was about.

One person shared their theory, saying: “One explanation given to me was they they were poking fun at other couples for all their hugging and kissing and that's why they can't say what the joke was.”

Another pointed out another instance of physical comedy on Strictly, adding: “I don't know either of them but if Katya says it was a joke maybe it was.

“Wynne got poked in the tummy by Neil as he went to speak to Claudia and that was clearly a joke.”

A third spoke out in defence of the duo, writing: “Wynne is being cancelled on social media and I find it heartbreaking.

“Anyone who has any sort of personality gets shut down these days. I don’t believe he’s a perv. I believe Katya when she says it was a joke.”
