SNOOKER’S UK Championship has been suspended due to a medical emergency.

Fans inside the York Barbican were evacuated after a member of the audience fell ill.

A short statement released by the WST read: “Play has been suspended as a member of the crowd has been taken ill.”

Commentators on Eurosport described the moment as a “serious incident”.

The incident occurred during ties between Judd Trump and Neil Robertson and John Higgins and Guoqiang He.

Both round of 32 clashes were postponed as the audience was cleared from the auditorium.

A little over 10 minutes after the delay and fans were welcomed back into their seats.

While play promptly resumed at 2:15pm.

Eurosport confirmed that the incident was indeed a medical emergency.

Snooker fans were sending their well-wishes to the spectator that had fallen ill.

One wrote: “Hope all is well with the supporter in question”.

While another added: “Hope the person who has taken poorly at the snooker makes a speedy recovery.”
