    Several migrants die while attempting to cross the English Channel hours after Mafia-style crackdown plans revealed

    SEVERAL migrants have died off the coast of France while attempting to cross the Channel.

    A number of asylum seekers have died in the sea off the Ambleteuse area between Calais and Boulogne.

    It comes after French authorities rescued around 200 people off the coast of Calais over a 24-hour period between Friday and Saturday night.
