Romano shares his four kids — daughter Alexandra, twin sons Matthew and Gregory as well as son Joseph — with his wife of 37 years, Anna
Ray Romano is 67!
Known for playing Ray Barone, a bumbling sportswriter with an overbearing mother, unfiltered father, nagging wife and dopey older brother on Everybody Loves Raymond, it seems the actor has cracked the code for a more peaceful family life in the real world.
The dedicated family man has been happily married to his wife, Anna, since 1987. The two welcomed four children over the course of their 37-year union: daughter Alexandra, 34, twin sons Matthew and Gregory, 31, and their youngest, Joseph, 26. Their family got slightly bigger this year, as Matthew got married in April and Alexandra got married in September at the New York Public Library. Ray walked his daughter down the aisle and later joked he'd have to do Ice Age 6 to pay for the blowout bash.
As the actor celebrates his 67th birthday on Dec. 21, look back at some cute throwback photos of Ray Romano and his family.
Quiet on Set!
Life imitated art imitated life when Anna, Ally, Matt and Greg visited the set of Everybody Loves Raymond and got to see where their dad worked pretending to be the dad of a daughter named Ally Barone and her twin brothers Geoffrey and Michael.
Oh Baby
For his birthday, Ally posted a photo that showed she and her dad have always had a close bond.
The Romanos Hit the Carpet
It was a full house for Ray Romano as he brought his entire clan to The Rugrats in Paris premiere in 2000.
Ray and the Girls
Alexandra exercised her elder sibling privileges as she got to attend the 56th annual Primetime Emmys with her parents in 2004.
It's All Cake
Before Romano got his big break, he was just your typical '90s dad in an oversize shirt and digital watch.
Rubbing Shoulders with the Stars
The actor attended the 30th Annual People's Choice Awards with his sons Matthew and Gregory in 2004. And while Matthew decided to match with dad, wearing a black suit and navy tie, Gregory opted for silver accents.
Everybody Loves Raymond
Matthew and Gregory gleefully posed with their father after he won favorite male television performer the same night.
Ray and (Some of) the Kids
It seems Joseph, who was born in February 1998, was still too young to hit the carpet as Ray took Ally and the twins for the premiere of The Rugrats Movie in November of the same year.
Say Cheese!
It was another day out for Ray, Ally and the twins as they attended the 2001 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards together.
Extra! Extra!
In 2015, Matthew Romano had the opportunity to put his dad and Brad Garrett — who played Ray's brother on Everybody Loves Raymond — on the spot for Extra. Judging by everyone's faces, things got deep.
Family Business
While promoting his show Get Shorty in 2017, Ray stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! and jokingly embarrassed Matt — who was single and working on the show — by pitching him to viewers for a date. Needless to say, Matt left the stage as soon as he could.
Gang's All Here
The entire family showed up to support their patriarch at the premiere of The Big Sick at ArcLight Hollywood in 2017.
Extending the Family
For the premiere of Somewhere in Queens in 2023, Ray walked the carpet with Anna, Alexandra and her now-husband Zachary Wilezol. The two wed on Sept. 21 at the New York Public Library on Fifth Avenue.
All Grown Up
The roles were reversed in November as Ray showed up to support his sons' documentary, Romano Twins, at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival.
All of his children have followed him into the entertainment industry, and Romano recently joked about his anxiety over their career choices.
"You know how I'm doing it? You know how I'm managing it?" he told PEOPLE. "With medication. ... It's a little stressful to be honest with you, because I know the business and I know even people that have 'it' don't get it. But it's also good because I want them to be passionate about something and go for it. And if that's it, then good. I'm glad."
