Rachel Zegler, Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem are teaming up for a magical new Netflix adventure.
PEOPLE is pleased to exclusively debut the trailer for the animated family movie Spellbound, starring Zegler, 23, as the princess Ellian of the fantasy kingdom of Lumbria, who faces a significant challenge when her parents — the King and Queen (Bardem and Kidman) — are turned into monsters by dark magic.
As the trailer shows, Ellian embarks on a quest to turn her parents back to humans before time runs out and dark magic threatens their whole world.
"When [Ellian's parents] escape the palace, panic spreads throughout the kingdom and Ellian must go on a daring quest to undo the spell before it's too late," an official synopsis for the movie reads. "But she quickly learns that even if she succeeds, her family may still be changed forever."

The film comes from director Vicky Jensen, the co-director of 2001's original Shrek movie, who tells PEOPLE in a statement that "mythology and fairytales have always been part of my life and upbringing."

Zegler "just brought everything and left nothing on the table" while voicing the movie's lead role, says Jensen, who called the actress, who takes another princess role as Snow White next year, "one of a kind."
"Spellbound is about what it is that really makes a family," Jensen, 64, says. "Like any timeless myth or lasting fairytale, I believe the meaning reaches even further than the specifics of this family's dynamic."
"I really hope that audiences across the world of every type of family can take away the positive message about the love of a family and what it takes to be a family, and how that bond is really unbreakable," Jensen adds.
John Lithgow, Jenifer Lewis, Nathan Lane and Tituss Burgess round out Spellbound's cast. The movie features an original score from celebrated composer Alan Menken, with lyrics by Glenn Slater and a screenplay by Lauren Hynes, Elizabeth Martin and Julia Miranda.
Spellbound begins streaming on Netflix Nov. 22.
