Olivia Munn Reveals She 'Barely Knew' John Mulaney When She Became Pregnant with Their First Baby

The couple is parents to son Malcolm, 2, and daughter Méi, whom they welcomed in September
Olivia Munn never expected that she and John Mulaney would start a family together.
Speaking with GQfor their profile on her comedian husband, the actress, 44, shares that the couple weren't dating yet when Munn discovered she was pregnant with their first baby, son Malcolm, 2.
"It wasn't anything close to 'dating,' " Munn shares. "I barely knew him."
Despite the fact that they weren't dating, when she learned that she was pregnant, Munn remembers that Mulaney was immediately eager for them to have the baby.

"It wasn't necessarily, 'We're going to be married and live together' or any of that, but it was 'I'll be involved in some way,' " she continues, telling the outlet that she assumed they'd co-parent since she lived in Los Angeles for most of the pregnancy and Mulaney was in New York City.
Although Mulaney was newly sober, recovering from a drug addiction and scared to relapse, Munn says he never voiced any troubles about their baby.
"That's the one thing that made him seem light and happy. I remember he was really excited to tell his parents," she says.
Two months before their son Malcolm was born, Munn and Mulaney decided to try and raise him as a couple.
In November 2021, Munn gave birth to the couple's first child, son Malcolm Hiệp Mulaney. PEOPLE confirmed the couple got married over the Fourth of July weekend in their friend's home in New York this past July. Only their son and a witness were in attendance for the simple, intimate ceremony, a source told PEOPLE.
In September, couple welcomed their second child, daughter Méi June Mulaney, via surrogate
"I had so many profound emotions about not being able to carry my daughter. When I first met our gestational surrogate we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding, I knew I had found a real-life angel," Munn shared in a post on Instagram. "Words cannot express my gratitude that she kept our baby safe for 9 months and made our dreams come true."
She added: "Méi (pronounced may) means plum in Chinese." In a separate post, Mulaney wrote: "I love my little girl so much."
