My partner has not touched me in a decade after suffering erection problems
Today at 01:31 PM
DEAR DEIDRE: MY partner hasn't touched me in a decade and I'm so frustrated.
We're both in our fifties. Our sex life used to be fantastic – we'd make love several times a week and were always trying new things.
About ten years ago, he began struggling to get or keep an erection.
Then one day, he cut off sex completely.
I've suggested we try oral sex or simply kissing and touching each other, but he doesn't want to know.
Short of leaving, what can I do?
MORE FROM DEAR DEIDRE
DEIDRE SAYS: Erection difficulties are often the first sign of a health problem like diabetes, high blood pressure or heart issues, so your partner should see his GP for a check-up. Then explain how much you miss being intimate with him.
Pick your words carefully. "I love you and I want to feel desirable again" sounds better than, "You make me feel rejected".
Be clear that this is an issue you can work on as a couple.
My support pack, Solving Erection Problems, will help you both.
