Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi may have tied the knot at a young age, but the decision was a long time coming.

After Alex Cooper asked Brown when she realized she could "actually see a future" with Jon Bon Jovi's 22-year-old son — whom she married in a private ceremony in May 2024 at age 20 — during the latest episode of Call Her Daddy, the actress, now 21, reflected on what exactly led the couple to marriage.

"We've been together for four years, so I guess maybe when we moved in together," Brown began in the podcast episode, which was released on Tuesday, March 11.

"We had dogs together, and we were taking care of our animals, and we started living this day-to-day life, and I thought, 'Oh, I really don't think I could ever see you as anything else. I don't want to be with anyone else ever again. I don't want to date, I don't want to meet anyone, I want you,' " the Electric State star recalled to Cooper, 30.

But it was the couple's conversations — about the way they see the world and how they want to start a family, among other things — that let Brown know Jake was the one. Only she didn't know at the time if he felt the same way.

"When we started talking about politics and how we want to raise our kids … we started talking about really, really big things that I'd obviously never spoken about, and I'm already very young, so I've never spoken about that with boys anyway," the Stranger Things star told Cooper. "But to be able to even think about those things, I was like, 'S---. Okay, maybe I do want to be with him forever.' "

"But I obviously didn't know if he felt that way," Brown recalled. "We talked about marriage, but I didn't really know when it was going to be. And then, when he proposed, I was like, it makes sense. Everything aligned."

Plus, the Stranger Things star said, it helped that both she and her now-husband had good models for love growing up. "His parents got married really young — they're high school sweethearts," Brown said of her in-laws, Bon Jovi and his longtime wife, Dorothea Bongiovi.

"My parents got married really young. They met when they were 19," Brown continued. "So we had just, like, really young marriages. We had really great role models growing up, so we didn't see any different. We didn't get jaded by all the other stuff, you know?"

With such great models for lasting love in both of the couple's families, "You just don't see anything else," she added.

In February 2025, Brown opened up to Vanity Fair about feeling confident going into her marriage with Jake, describing the pair — who were first romantically linked in 2021 — as "pretty united."

"We talked about our political views, what kind of family we want to build, the kind of home we want to live in, the kind of relationship we're looking for, the kind of careers we want," the Enola Holmesstar said at the time. "It's such an important decision, and we wanted to make sure we were making the right one."

"I knew I was. It always felt right with him," Brown continued, later adding that Jake "is the first man [she has] ever loved and been in love with."
