"Love Is Blind"'s Ramses Says He Would've Felt 'Exhausted and Overwhelmed' Every Day If He Moved Forward with Marissa

Marissa George's mother, Vanessa, also confronted Ramses Prashad at the season 7 reunion, admitting she "wanted to punch him in the throat" after he ended things with her daughter

Love Is Blind's Ramses Prashad is getting candid about his broken engagement Marissa George — even if that means upsetting her in the process.

During the season 7 reunion, which dropped on Netflix on Oct. 30, Ramses and Marissa came face to face after their dramatic breakup in the season finale.

When asked by co-hosts Nick Lachey and Vanessa Lachey how it was to watch that scene back, Marissa got emotional, saying it "felt like my heart was breaking all over again."

Though Ramses insisted it was "difficult" to him to watch the scene, he noted that he "didn't come into the experience wanting to devastate anyone or leave anyone heartbroken." Instead, he said, he came onto the show "looking for the love of my life and for the majority of this experience, I thought I had found it in Marissa."

When pressed about what ultimately changed his mind, Ramses admitted that his split with Marissa came down to the fact that he felt a noticeable "space" in their energies that he couldn't ignore.

"There was one day where it really hit home for me and I realized and recognized if I move forward with Marissa, every day I would be in a place where I would feel exhausted and overwhelmed," he said. "I don't want to change who she is. She deserves a person and a love that will embrace who she is fully... I just felt that person couldn't be me."

Marissa's mother, Vanessa — who made waves on the show when she first met Ramses — also said her piece, admitting she "wanted to punch [Ramses] in the throat" after he ended things with her daughter.

"I'm thankful he called it off, she would've carried that relationship," Vanessa said, noting that Ramses "did the right thing" but he should've been "honest and man enough" to be upfront about his feelings and doubt.

"She thought you were it and you broke her," Vanessa told Ramses. "I had to help pick her up. She was devastated... you didn't see that part, you got to walk away and cry like you were the one who was hurt."

The comments from Vanessa struck a chord with Marissa, who started to cry on stage. Meanwhile, Ramses told Vanessa she was "correct" and he didn't bring up his concerns earlier because he wasn't sure if it would "become an issue."

Marissa then pointed out that she "never had a say" in their relationship and Ramses owned up to missteps, saying "I take full accountability" for not being "more forthcoming" about his emotions.

"I saw us having a future... unfortunately, I came to that realization towards the end of this experience and it just made for a very heartbreaking situation," he added.

To close out their confrontation, Ramses clarified about their birth control and contraception conversation, which he felt was misconstrued on the series.

"I never tried to present Marissa with an ultimatum," he said, acknowledging that he respected Marissa's choice to not use oral conception and they landed on a solution that they both agreed on. "It wasn't a situation where I was being whiny or bratty or whatever the perception is."

Marissa and Ramses had one of the more emotional journeys on the show, characterized by many deep conversations that typically weren't showcased on Love Is Blind before, from politics and sex, to their stance on the military.

The two got engaged after Marissa ended things with Bohdan Olinares in the pods and Ramses narrowed in on his connection with Marissa. Though they were happy as could be in Mexico, things got real when they returned to the real world, with their differing beliefs and perspectives rather clear to family and friends.

Things came to a head at the end of episode 11 when Ramses and Marissa had a conversation about their future and Ramses' concerns about getting married again. Ultimately, his fear that he would hurt Marissa became his main worry and he decided that they were better going their separate ways.

"How could I feel so sure, and you not?" Marissa asked in the episode. "I want someone to be sure about me."

But despite applying for a marriage license together and being just days away from their wedding, Ramses called it off, leaving Marissa heartbroken and sobbing on the floor.

"This is the worst day of my life," Marissa cried in the heart-wrenching scene that concluded in the beginning of episode 12, before taking off her ring and leaving it on the carpet.
