Lori Loughlin Means Business — and Drops an F Bomb! — as a No-Nonsense Police Lieutenant in "On Call" First Look (Exclusive)

Lori Loughlin isn't messing around.

In PEOPLE's exclusive first look clip at Prime Video's On Call, the actress, 60, fully steps into her new role as Lieutenant Bishop — marking the first time that Loughlin has portrayed a law enforcement officer in her career.

On Call follows rookie and veteran officer duo Traci Harmon (Troian Bellisario) and Alex Diaz (Brandon Larracuente) as they go on patrol together in Long Beach, California, per the official synopsis.

The series, which premieres all eight episodes on Jan. 9, features a mix of "bodycam, dash-camera, and cellphone footage to create a cinema verité effect," as Traci and Alex settle into their new dynamic together.

In PEOPLE's exclusive sneak peek, Lieutenant Bishop gathers her police force as she passes along important information about a recent shooting that left the squad "raw."

"Listen up," she says before passing out papers. "Gang's just ID-ed Delgado's shooter, Eddie Watson. He and the piece of s--- driver Juan Cortes are still believed to be in the city, but likely trying to flee."

As Traci reads the information with a concerned look on her face, Bishop informs the group that the shooter is a member of the "East Barrio clique, street name, Maniac. I'm not making that up."

"Detectives are still trying to ID the female passenger. We think she's a minor being trafficked, which could have been motive for the shooting," she continues. "If you get eyes, any one of you, on either Watson or Cortez, you do not engage alone. Understood?"

The officers reply with a firm, "Yes, ma'am!" and Bishop gives her team a word of warning.

"I know we're all raw, but let's keep it in check. We have a multi-agency task force looking for these motherf----s, that's their job. Your job is business as usual. Any questions?" she asks.

When the team remains silent, she adds, "Watch each other's backs. Get to work."

In late December, Loughlin opened up about taking on the no-frills role and how different On Call was to the projects she usually takes on.

"I was game for anything. Like when I first showed up, they were like, your highlights are gonna go, and I was like, fine," she told Entertainment Tonight. "No makeup, dark hair pulled back, uniform and just [a] very raw [look] and I jumped at the chance. I was so excited."

She admitted of the role, "I didn't know I had it in me — to be that badass."
