Johnny Depp is giving a peek inside his creative process with a new art exhibit coming soon.

Set to open in New York City on Friday, Oct. 4, an immersive and experiential exhibition called A Bunch of Stuff will be an "intimate exploration of Depp's body of art works for the first time," according to the creative team.

The exhibit features Depp's personal artifacts and ephemera from his homes and art studios, and it's said to showcase his "distinctive personality and sense of humor."

Depp, 61, says in a statement to PEOPLE, "Through the magic and madness of life, art has been my sanctuary. These pieces, born of different stages of my journey are a residue of a life lived."

"Creation is not always a comfortable process, but for me it's a necessary one," he adds.

"Johnny Depp is celebrated worldwide as an actor, director and musician. What is less well known is that art has played a deeply personal and highly important role in his life since childhood," BAUART co-founder Guy Vesey says in a statement.

Vesey continues, "We believe A Bunch of Stuff will leave audiences inspired to create; to realize, as Depp exemplifies, that art can be more than just paint on canvas. That it can be healing, transformative and empowering for all ages, no matter your background or experience."
