Jennifer Garner and Jennifer Lopez Remain on Great Terms: How Ben Affleck's Exes Have Bonded Over Their Kids (Exclusive Source)

"They have really found a great female support system," a source tells PEOPLE of Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Garner's friendship

Ben Affleck's ex wives Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Garner remain on great terms with each other, a source tells PEOPLE.

Lopez, 55 — whose divorce from Affleck, her husband of two years, was finalized in January — and Garner, 52, are "friends" who check in with each other, says the source.

"Jennifer Garner reaches out to Jennifer Lopez about her kids. Jennifer Lopez reaches out to Jennifer Garner about her kids. They're friends," the source says. "They have really found a great female support system and communicate."

Garner was married to Affleck, 52, from 2005 to 2015; the pair share children Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13. Meanwhile, Lopez shares her twins  Max and Emme, who turned 17 in February, with ex-husband Marc Anthony. Lopez and Affleck initially began dating in 2002 and became engaged, but split in 2004. They reunited in 2021.

"We're always pitting women against women. In this case, it's just not the truth," the source adds of Lopez and Garner's relationship.

A different source recently told PEOPLE that Affleck and Garner "have been on good terms for a while now and seem to enjoy chatting and hanging out" when they're with the kids.

The former couple were notably seen sharing a laugh at Samuel's 13th birthday party on March 2, and the source said Affleck has appeared "extra giddy lately, though, and much more affectionate" while spending time with Garner. 

Affleck and Lopez settled their divorce on Jan. 6 and were declared legally single on Feb. 21, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE at that time. Both have remained busy with work; Lopez premiered her upcoming movie Kiss of the Spider Woman at the Sundance Film Festival in January, while Affleck just premiered his new film The Accountant 2 at SXSW on March 8.

Additionally, the first source tells PEOPLE that Lopez "isn't bothered" by the recent photos of Garner and Affleck sharing a hug at Samuel's birthday party "at all."

"People are reading into it in a way to create drama where there is none," the source says.
