Hilary Duff Jokes Matthew Koma Is Like Her 'Really Good Assistant'

Hilary Duffis leaning on her husband, Matthew Koma, while the couple navigates their new life as a family of six.

"The one great thing about Matt and me is sometimes I think we don't feel old enough to have all these responsibilities. We're both the same age. We're 37, and we don't know how to keep up," Duff exclusively told Us Weekly while promoting her partnership with Meta AI. "It's just our feet are constantly going. Maybe we're on a moving sidewalk or something, I don't know."

Duff gushed that she and her husband of four years "do a really good dance" with each other. "Whenever there's a need in the house, he acts like a really good assistant because he knows me," she said.

While she and Koma have their rhythm, Duff admitted that she's not sure whether there's a "key ingredient" in how to navigate parenting.

"I think sometimes some of the kids' needs don't get met right away. That's actually been really great for our house as a learning experience to just be like, 'You have to wait,' or, 'That's not going to happen today,' or, 'Figure it out,'" Duff explained. "It's actually taken me having four kids to realize that I can't control everybody's happiness and I can't be constantly the cruise director of everything."

The "Come Clean" singer said she tries her "hardest" but noted that "it's been a really nice practice to just say no a little bit more." She added, "And that's taken making four humans."

Duff is mom to son Luca, 12, whom she shares with ex-husband Mike Comrie, and shares daughters Banks, 6, Mae, 3, and Townes, 7 months, with Koma.

The former Disney star explained that she feels better when she has "a little bit of time" for herself. "I dropped one kid off at school today, and I went and played pickleball before this," she added. "Could be hanging out with Townes, but I hang out with her a lot. I want to go do this with my friends and it's good for me."

"I love the holiday season so much, but being an adult now and making it magical for so many people is just so much," she told Us. "So I have been utilizing Meta AI, and it's been incredible because it's like a thought partner. It's just something that you can rattle your thoughts off with."

Duff explained that she will ask Meta AI how to approach the holiday when her normal routine feels "a little stale," or she will request help for creating lists.

"It's really amazing that we have this assistant for people that don't have access to a normal assistant," she told Us. "I have a personal assistant and I even still need it. I'm more organized because of it and also I have better ideas because of it."
