Hailee Steinfeld Reveals How She and Boyfriend Josh Allen Avoided a 'Bad Omen' in Their Relationship

Hailee Steinfeld pictured alongside Josh AllenHailee Steinfeld is opening up about her relationship.
In the latest issue of her newsletter, "Beau Society," as reported by Sports Illustrated, the singer and actress, 27, revealed that she and her Buffalo Bills quarterback boyfriend Josh Allen, 28, had to figure out how to avoid a "bad omen" in their relationship.
As Steinfeld recounted, it all started when the couple bought each other the same gifts for Christmas.
"I got this knife for Josh last year for Christmas because cooking is something we love to do together," she wrote, per the outlet. "For Christmas he got me…the same one in a different colorway!"

"After we exchanged our knives lol, he told me there's an old wive's tale that if you gift your significant other a knife you have to pay for it, otherwise it signifies the severing of a relationship," she continued. "So we exchanged quarters so we didn't have that bad omen."
The "Most Girls" artist added, "Anyway, oh my God, I love this knife! I don't know much about a chef's knife but it is just so nice and makes me feel official."

Steinfeld and Allen were first spotted spending time together in New York City in May 2023.
They then made their first public appearance together in October 2023 at the NHL's Buffalo Sabres' season-opener against the New York Rangers.
The couple were then photographed together in Laguna Niguel, California in January.
A source close to the duo told PEOPLE in February that the pair were in a "serious relationship."
"They always planned to spend more time together after his season ended. Things have been going really well," the source said. "They're both very family-oriented and driven, and they want to protect their relationship and keep it private. They've been on the same page with all of that."
