A GREGGS superfan who has forked out a whopping £1,600 on sausage rolls got a tattoo of the pastry on his arm.

Matthew McCarroll, 31, has scoffed four of the tasty treats every Friday night for the last seven years as a reward for finishing the working week – racking up 1,456.

His love for the snack started when he was a kid, and now they're his favourite food.

To pay homage, the council groundsman decided to get a £200 six-inch inking of one – with a halo-like orange glow around it – on his right arm.

The three-hour design was finally finished on December 14 following two visits to the Sun and Moon studio in Glasgow, Scotland, and he quipped he now looks like an "advertising board" for Greggs.

Matthew, of Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, said: "I've had Greggs sausage rolls since I was a child.

"I'm not the best eater in the world but I knew I liked sausage rolls so it was something I would fall back on as I got older.

"My routine on a Friday after work is I go straight to Greggs and then go for a nap, it's brilliant.

"It started seven years ago. My usual order is four sausage rolls, I eat them in one go after my shift.

"The dream is if Greggs sees the tattoo, it would be great to get something that acknowledges I've got it, maybe a t-shirt."

Greggs have not yet offered Matthew any freebies.

The company has been contacted for comment.
