Flavor Flav Praises Selena Gomez for 'Being So Open About Her Health and Mental Health': 'I Applaud Her'

Flavor Flav, who's been quite open about his love for Taylor Swift as of late, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Nov. 5 and expressed admiration for the "All Too Well" singer's close friend, Selena Gomez, highlighting her openness regarding physical and mental health.

"I don't know her personally,,, but Selena Gomez is one of the STRONGEST and MOST BEAUTIFUL people inside and out," wrote the Public Enemy rapper, 65, alongside a photo of Gomez, 32.

He added, "I applaud her for being so open about her health and mental health. And I applaud her even more for clapping back at haterz,,, but she shouldn't have to."

Gomez, who's been open about her lupus and bipolar disorder diagnoses, founded the Rare Impact Fund to support "organizations increasing access to youth mental health services and education globally," per the organization's website.

Launched in 2020 as the philanthropic arm of her Rare Beauty brand, 1% of all sales from the cosmetics line are donated to the Rare Impact Fund.

In October, the Emilia Pérez star spoke to PEOPLE about her go-to practices to protect her mental health. "Try not to isolate," she said at the time.

"I think it's important to have moments alone," explained Gomez. "But when you isolate, sometimes those feelings can just stay bottled up."

She encouraged fans to "find one person to trust and tell your heart to" and ensure "you can actually trust them with that information."

Since attending his first Eras Tour show in June 2023, Flav has been quite public about his Swift fandom.

In a September interview with PEOPLE, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member spoke about wanting to attend more shows before the tour ends in December: "As many as I can, as many as my schedule will permit me to go to, at least."

Following up his Gomez praise post on X, Flav shared a gif of the Disney Channel alum and Swift chatting with one another and wrote, "Me finding out Taylor and Selena are best friends."
