Netflix announced that it would be adapting The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo — which was published in 2017 but found a resurgence in popularity in 2021, after it went viral on TikTok — for the big screen back in March 2022.
While little is known about the movie, Netflix did confirm that Reid, 41, would be involved as an executive producer. Though no actors have publicly been cast, fans have picked favorites to play various roles in the novel, from Ana de Armas to Jessica Chastain.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo marks the second of Reid's books to be adapted for the screen. Reid's 2019 novel Daisy Jones & The Six made a splash when Prime Video released a TV show based on the book in December 2022, starring Riley Keough and Sam Claflin.

In her conversation with E! News, González praised the "amazing job" done with Daisy Jones & The Six, and said that while Evelyn Hugo is a "chef's kiss" of a book, "it has to be well done" as a film.
Although the actress didn't say if she's been contacted about the movie, she did tell the outlet that one very famous face is in her corner in terms of casting: her Fountain of Youthcostar Natalie Portman.
"Once I was on set and Natalie Portman was like, 'You know, I just can't think of anyone else to do Evelyn Hugo,' " she said. "I was like, 'Natalie Portman is saying that to me! That's really fire.' "
As for whom she'd choose to play the present-day version of Evelyn, González told E! News that there are "so many amazing actresses" she could envision stepping into the role, including Salma Hayek, Sofía Vergara and Eva Longoria.
"I've thought of both characters quite a lot, and it's really hard to decide," she said.
