"Die Hard 2" Actor Art Evans Dies at 82: He Was a 'Source of Light to Everyone Who Knew Him'

The actor also made appearances in TV shows like 'M*A*S*H' and 'Doogie Howser, M.D.'
Art Evans, the actor who starred in films like Die Hard 2 and A Soldier's Story, has died at age 82.
Evans died Saturday, Dec. 21, Deadline reported, adding that the actor's rep said the cause was diabetes, a "condition he courageously managed for many years." His obituary said he "passed away peacefully" while "surrounded by family," Varietyreported.
Reps for Evans did not respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.
"Art was not only an incredible actor but a devoted husband, friend and source of light to everyone who knew him," his wife Babe said in a statement to Deadline. "His laughter, passion and love of life will be deeply missed. While our hearts are heavy, we celebrate the legacy of joy and inspiration he leaves behind."
In a statement to Variety, Babe said "We are heartbroken to share that Art has passed away. Please respect our privacy at this time. A memorial will be held for friends and family to attend at a later date. Thank you."

Evans was born March 27, 1942 in Los Angeles, where he got his start at Frank Silvera's Theatre of Being. He made his screen debut in 1976 on an episode of Chico and the Man. He later collected more than 120 film and television credits in his 50-year career.
He starred in movies like Death Wish, Amazing Grace, The In-Laws, Wrong is Right, Die Hard 2, Tales from the Hood, A Soldier's Story and Young Caesar, among others.
Evans' TV credits include roles on M*A*S*H, 9 to 5, The X Files, Doogie Howser, M.D., Mad About You, Hill Street Blues, The Fall Guys and Maximum Security.
