DANCING On Ice star fans were left with their mouths open last night at how much Sam Aston’s son looks the spitting image of his famous father.

The 30-year-old soap star took to the rink for the first time last night, and his family were there to cheer him on.

To cheer dad on, Sam‘s wife Briony brought along their kids to watch the opening show.

The couple – who wed in 2019 – have three children, but it was the Coronation Street star’s boy, Sonny, that really caught the attention of fans.

The four-year-old is a mini-me of his father, and looks identical to his dad.

Fans also said Sonny he looked just like his dad when he first played Chesney Brown in Corrie as a young boy.

It came after the camera flashed to the youngster during the live show.

Taking to social media, one fan wrote: “OMG it’s like little Chesney has been born again.

“Woooow Sam’s son is his clone #DancingOnIceOhh little Chesney, Sam's son is the image of him.”

“Omg how cute is Sams son?!?!? Little mini Sam!”

While this one said: “To cute Sam’s son the image of him a mini Chesney.”

The actor recently told The Sun how he’s enjoying his Dancing On Ice experience, but isn't letting the fact that he’s tipped to win go to his head.

When asked about his status as one of the bookies' favourites, Sam laughed off the predictions.

He said: "I don't know about being a favourite – the bookies always get it wrong, don't they? I never back a favourite!"

Despite the hype, he said he’s staying focused and cautious.

He said: "I don't want to get too ahead of myself."

Meanwhile, yesterday Sam opened up about the wave of big exits from Coronation Street and revealed his future as Chesney Brown is uncertain.

The much-loved star weighed in on the changes on the soap, including the departure of long-time cast membersColson Smith, Sue Cleaver and Helen Worth, who played Gail Platt for over five decades.

Speaking about the recent exits, Sam – who has been on Corrie since 2003 – said: "I just think we're in a period at the minute where a couple of the big characters are going.

"It's always been like that on the show with people coming and going.

"Obviously we have lost, with Helen especially, one of the icons on the show. 50 years, she was an absolute legend. Hats off to her – enjoy your retirement, you deserve it."

Despite the shake-ups, Sam reassured fans about his own future on the cobbles.

He said: "So at the minute I'm not filming right now, but I am there," he confirmed ahead of his debut on Dancing On Ice.

"I'm not like written out for this or anything like that.

"I've got a bit of work in the pipeline coming up, so it'll just depend on how far I go and how busy I can potentially get."

He also added: "I'd love to do 50 years on Corrie!”
