Daily Wire's 'Identity Crisis' to Debut on Elon Musk's X

The Daily Wire has proven its films can thrive behind a paywall and in theaters.
The 2022 documentary “What Is a Woman?” rocked the culture without gracing a single movie house. This year’s “Am I Racist?” became the most popular documentary in a decade after hitting theaters nationwide.
The conservative platform will release its next film on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
The Daily Wire announced ts next documentary, “Identity Crisis,” at AmericaFest 2024 LIVE in Phoenix earlier today. The feature casts a withering eye on so-called gender-affirming care for teens and tweens. The teaser shows media personalities like Dr. Phil weighing in on the subject. We also see young adults who went through the surgical process and have deep regrets.
The trailer shows many children with their faces blacked out to protect their identity.
The choice to debut the film on X makes sense on several levels. It can be spread far and wide for maximum exposure. Musk’s X won’t censor the content, which cannot be said for platforms like Instagram and YouTube.

X’s role in the culture has spiked significantly over the last year. The platform helped delay the Continuing Resolution vote to ensure some of its problematic provisions could be stripped away. Controversial topics that might have been shadow-banned or censored by the old Twitter regime flowed freely during the recent election cycle.
Here is the film’s official description:
What happens when ideology overtakes biology? Identity Crisis dives into one of the most polarizing debates of our time: the rise of gender ideology and its impact on children. Inspired by the cultural phenomenon What Is a Woman?, this emotionally charged documentary shares deeply personal accounts from detransitioners, parents, and professionals fighting against a system that prioritizes political agendas over child welfare. Identity Crisis urgently invites viewers to reconsider the cost of reshaping identity.
The Daily Wire’s entertainment division includes feature films (“Shut In,” “Terror on the Prairie”), comedies (“Mr. Birchum“), documentaries and children’s entertainment.
“Identity Crisis,” made in partnership with Turning Point USA, debuts Jan. 10, 2025 exclusively on X.
The Daily Wire could have opted for a second theatrical release, coming on the heels of “Am I Racist?” The site may make far less money on the documentary had they done so. Perhaps the goal is to change hearts and minds mores than expand its bottom line.
