Shia LaBeouf played the lead in classic 2003 Disney movie Holes.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Disney+ have handed out a pilot order for a potential TV series reboot.

This iteration would shift focus to a teenage girl – a re-imagining from a different perspective.

In the original story, Stanley Yelnats is sent to Camp Green Lake – a juvenile detention facility – after being wrongfully convicted of stealing.

The formidable Warden forces campers to dig holes for unknown reasons.

Meanwhile, the potential show is written by Alina Mankin with Liz Phang serving as showrunner.

Fans have shared mixed reactions on social media.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one wrote: “I’m looking forward for this!”

Another, however, commented: “Definitely did NOT ask for this.”

A third chimed in: “The original #Holes film had a great cast & the story was unique.

“It could do well as a series for @DisneyPlus.”

While a fourth wrote: “I mean, I love the book & movie, but I’ll need to wait & see how this turns out before I decide on if I want this.”

A fifth suggested: “They should also adapt the sequel to the book Small Steps.”

Alien and Ghostbusters star Sigourney Weaver starred as main antagonist The Warden.

The film‘s all-star cast also featured Jon Voight, Henry Winkler, Patricia Arquette, Tim Blake Nelson and Dulé Hill.
