The family of a father of two is speaking out after they say their loved one was shot in the head while he was napping.

On Monday, Aug. 5, Run Hua Kuang was sleeping at his home in East Oakland, Calif., when a "bullet came flying through a wall, penetrated the headboard and went straight through his head and out his left eye," a GoFundMe created by Kuang's sister, Jasmine Kuang states.

According to the fundraiser, Kuang had just finished his job as a delivery truck driver and went home to take a nap. He lives with his wife of seven years, their 7-month-old and 3-year-old daughters, and his parents. No one else in the home was injured, per The Mercury News.

After the shooting, Kuang had a seven-hour surgery and is said to be in the ICU on life support, "fighting for his life," according to the fundraising page.

The Oakland Housing Authority Police Department is investigating the incident and has been in contact with Kuang's family "providing support and services," reported The Mercury News.

It's not clear what led to the shooting, according to the outlet. So far, no one has been arrested and information about a potential suspect has not been released. PEOPLE has reached out to the OHAPD for comment.

The GoFundMe campaign, which has garnered over 1,900 donations and raised over $141,000 of its $200,000 goal, states that the shooting has left Kuang's "entire family traumatized and in deep distress."

"This tragedy has created a severe financial burden for our family. Furthermore, Hua's absence is even more of a hardship and struggle since he is the only one who can speak limited English and take care of the responsibilities and communications for the household," the campaign adds.

The campaign states that Kuang, who immigrated to the U.S. from Taishan, China, in 2005, was the sole provider of his family.

He is described as someone whose "life was built upon being disciplined and devoted as a husband, father, and son."
