Britney Spears and her father Jamie Spears have settled their dispute over Jamie's legal fees and management of his daughter's finances, according to The New York Times. The resolution was reached in Los Angeles Superior Court on April 25, but the terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

Jamie Spears had been seeking more than $2 million to cover legal bills for multiple law firms he had hired as his daughter's conservator, as well as payment for his current lawyer's fees. Britney's lawyer Mathew S. Rosengart argued that she shouldn't have to pay for her father's current legal bills, alleging that Jamie already abused his authority as Britney's conservator to pay himself $6 million. In a statement released following the resolution, Rosengart said, "As she desired, her freedom now includes that she will no longer need to attend or be involved with court or entangled with legal proceedings in this matter."

Jamie Spears's lawyer Alex M. Weingarten also released a statement, saying, "Jamie is thrilled all this is over. He regrets the irresponsible and specious allegations made against him in public."

This resolution also means that Spears and her father will avoid having to take this dispute to trial, which was scheduled to begin in May.
