Brit tourist airlifted from cruise ship & rushed to hospital after suffering 'heart problems' off coast of Spain

A BRIT woman was evacuated by helicopter from a cruise ship after suffering a heart emergency.

The passenger was rushed by air ambulance to the Álvaro Cunqueiro Hospital in Vigo, on Spain’s west coast, needing urgent attention.

The holidaymaker had been enjoying a trip on the Sky Princess boat when she fell ill 15 miles off the coast.

The huge leisure ship had recently left Vigo and was bound for Funchal, on the island of Madeira.

A Pesca 1 helicopter from Spain’s coastguard was scrambled to rescue the gravely ill Brit.

The Sky Princess is operated by Princess Cruises.

A statement from the Spanish coastguard read: “Our CCS in Vigo has coordinated the medical evacuation of a British woman from the cruise ship SKY PRINCESS, which had departed from Vigo heading to Funchal, 5 miles SW of Cape Silleiro.

“The Pesca 1 helicopter was mobilized and transferred her to Álvaro Cunqueiro Hospital.”
