THE 68th edition of the Ballon d’Or will take place TONIGHT.

This year’s ceremony will be the first time in 21 years that neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo have been nominated in the men’s category.

The two footballing icons have shared 13 of the past 16 awards, eight going to Messi and five for Ronaldo.

Karim Benzema and Luka Modric are also not included in the 30-man shortlist, meaning a first-time winner is guaranteed.

Real Madrid pair Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham are amongst the favourites after helping Los Blancos to win the Champions League, LaLiga and the Spanish Super Cup last season.

Manchester City’s Rodri is also a strong contender for the iconic award after winning the Premier League for a fourth time with the Cityzens and helping Spain to Euro 2024 glory on the international stage.
