Ayo Edebiri Channeled an Iconic Julia Roberts '90s Red Carpet Look at the 2025 Golden Globes

The Bear star, 29, arrived on the red carpet in a baggy gray suit in a nod to Roberts's iconic look she wore at the ceremony back in 1990.
Edebiri wore a custom Loewe outfit consisting of an oversized gray suit jacket with structured shoulders, matching loose-fitting pants, a gray shirt and black loafers. She brought some shine to her monochromatic look by adding a long gold feather tie.
The actress accessorized her minimal look with a pair of small hoop earrings and silver grills and a red heart-in-hand badge worn on the lapel of her jacket.
Edebiri also sported loose auburn waves matching Robert's hairstyle at the 1990 Golden Globes. She shared of her newly dyed hairstyle on Today, "We dyed my hair this morning. It was kind of insane dying my hair in a hotel room, but I think worth it!"

"Important," she wrote over the photo, tagging both actresses.
Edebiri's style tribute to Roberts at the Globes has even more significance after she recently completed a project with the Pretty Woman star. Edebiri and Roberts wrapped up filming for the upcoming thriller After the Hunt in August 2024.
Goldberg reshared an earlier post mentioning the pair having worked together as further inspiration behind Edebiri's Golden Globes outfit. "Ayo fresh off a set with Julia … Golden Globes on Sunday … Danielle Goldberg can you hear me," a message read.

Roberts previously described her outfit at the 1990 Golden Globes, where she won best supporting actress for her role in Steel Magnolias, as "one of my all-time favorite outfits" she's worn at the awards ceremony.
"I did my hair, my girlfriend did my makeup. And I got this suit at Armani in Beverly Hills," Roberts explained of her look to British Vogue in January 2024. "I went into the men's department and they had an in-store tailor and they tailored it to fit me."

"I don't even know that people wore really fancy gowns to the Golden Globes then the way they do now, but I thought I was very extra in this outfit," Roberts continued. "I could not have known that it was going to become this, like, statement outfit — I just thought I looked fabulous."
The actress added that she "still ha[s] that suit" all these years later.
